Often it is seen that because of lack of fire safety rules, cities suffer from a high rate of fire damage and run a high risk of arson. This is a negative against any city which has a certain duty to protect the citizens from such serious matters, and often enough a fire brigade can help reduce damage, but not increase awareness. A certain level of fire awareness is needed for maintaining a safe city and reducing the chances of damage by means of a conflagration.

A fire marshal is a person who maintains fire safety rules of a city, and helps citizens to know their rights regarding fire-related issues. A fire marshal, as he is known as in United States and Canada, can also be called a fire safety officer and he enforces rules that reduce the chances of damage by fire and arson. He can be a part of the firefighters’ department, and spread awareness through workshops or simple demonstrations. He can also be a part of a building safety department, or have his own department altogether. The work of the fire marshal is to spread the awareness about fire codes, and help citizens abide them with proper care.
